Bring Your Own Sewing Project

Class Duration: 4 Hours


Designed as a self-paced sewing class, our BYO class is a perfect beginners sewing class - great for those who wish to work on a specific sewing project with as much or as little assistance as you need.

Equipment List:

  • Sewing machine (Tessuti provide Bernina sewing machines but you can bring your own if you wish)
  • Fabric scissors
  • Paper scissors
  • Fabric and pattern
  • Measuring tape
  • Needles
  • Pins

Class InfoPattern Modificationfrom $100

Pattern Modification

Class Duration: 4 Hours.

This class is designed to help people who are making their own garments but are dissatisfied with the way in which a standard size fits their body shape. In this session a calico prepared from your commercial pattern will be professionally fitted to your individual shape. You will learn how to transfer the fitting alterations onto your pattern and will create a new pattern which fits you exactly.

To prepare for this class you will need to cut and sew a calico from your pattern (if your pattern is for a stretch garment you need to make a stretch toile). It is important to have sewn together your calico garment before the class so that it is ready to fit on the day.

This class will be held in a nearby sewing studio located within 10 mins walking distance of our Melbourne store.

How to Take a Pattern From Your Favourite Garment

Class Duration: 4 Hours

Learn how to create a pattern from your favourite garment without taking it apart.

Class InfoTessuti Open Pattern Class $140

Tessuti Open Pattern Class

Duration: 6 hours

Learn to sew any one of our popular Tessuti Patterns in this open class. It's YOUR choice. If choosing a simpler design, this class is also suitable for beginners. Get professional tips and useful advice, you will be taught how to work out your correct pattern size, choosing and cutting out of the pattern in a suitable fabric, ready to construct your project.

Class InfoWardrode Surgery $100

Wardrobe Surgery

 

Bring a garment (or several garments) to remodel, refit or repair. Your project might be as simple as learning how to level and sew a hem or you might want to tackle more complex changes to the size of style of a garment.

Complex alterations sometimes require extensie unpicking and preparation. To allow time for this to be undertaken at home, this class will be conducted over TWO sessions.

Bear in mind that not all alterations are possible. It will be a good idea to bring several possible projects so that the most appropriate project can be chosen for your skill level.

You will need to bring: LOTS of patience! Each project will require different materials and equipment. Theseindividual requirements will be discussed at the first session so that the necessary itmes can be soured before the second session, which will be held two weeks later to allow for preparation of your project.

Class InfoDraft a Personal Block (includes paper, pattern card and calico) $165

Draft a Personal Block (includes paper, pattern card and calico)

 

Session 1 - In this class you will learn to take the appropriate measurments and to then apply your measurements to drafting rules. A paper bodice block will be made in this class. The bodice block may be developed into a dress block with the addition of a skirt block.

Session 2 - A calico garment will be cut and constructed from your paper block. The calico will be fitted to your exact body shape and then you will make any adjustments before cutting a cardboard block.

Class InfoDesign Your Own Garment Using Your Personal Block: Style & Sequence Plan (includes pattern paper) $130

Design Your Own Garment Using Your Personal Block: Style & Sequence Plan (includes pattern paper)

 

Session 1 - Learn how to use your personal block to create a specific style. It will be best to bring to class a line drawing of the back and the front of your chosen garment style.

Session 2 - Learn to write a sequence plan in order to make your garment correctly.

Due to limited spaces, all sewing class bookings are final and cancellations will result in forfeit of payment. Bookings are strictly NON transferable to other class dates. Please check dates before making your class bookings as there can be no exceptions.
