Class InfoDraft a Personal Block $325

Draft a Personal Block - a workshop over 2 sessions (includes paper, pattern card and calico)
Not suitable for beginners

A block is a useful tool for people with advanced sewing skills and with a good understanding of garment construction but who experience fitting problems when using standard sized patterns. A personal block will be a pattern made without ease, style or seam allowance which can be used to develop garment styles while keeping the custom fit.

Session 1 - In this class you will learn to take accurate measurements. To help with this process it will be best to wear a close fitting t-shirt. Your measurements will then be applied to the drafting rules. A paper pattern without seam allowance will be made and a calico bodice will be cut. The calico may be made in this class or completed at home before the next session. The bodice block may be developed into a dress block with the addition of a skirt block.

Session 2 - Your calico garment will be fitted to your exact body shape and then you will make any adjustments to the paper pattern. If the adjustments are minor a cardboard block can be made from the paper pattern.

You will need to bring:

Session 1 - Pencils, rulers, erasers, paper scissors, measuring tape, tracing wheel (optional), fabric scissors. Pattern paper and calico will be provided.

Session 2 - pins, thread, fabric scissors and stapler. Pattern card will be provided.
